Very useful when connecting soundbars, which only have digital audio input, to TVs which only have stereo output via phono plug or via a Scart adapter.

The digital output is an uncompressed 2-channel LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) signal with a sampling frequency of 48kHz.
