Please note that USB cables cannot usually be routed for longer than a total of 5 metres without an active amplifier. It cannot be guaranteed that the 5-metre extension cables can be used for anything other than connection with very short USB cables or e.g. a USB memory stick or USB 3.0 receiver.
USB 3.0 is a new and fast USB standard with a transfer rate of an impressive 5.0 Gbps, approx. 10 times as fast as a normal USB 2.0 cable. Furthermore, the interaction between the device and the host computer has been improved, so that a higher power can now be delivered from e.g. computer to device, which will allow for even more demanding devices to be powered only by a USB cable in the future.
USB 3.0 compatibility:
USB 3.0 is backward-compatible with USB 2.0 standard, although the USB Type B connector is designed differently than the USB 2.0 type B connector. That means the connector to the peripheral device (printer, hard drive, etc.) must be a USB 3.0 Type B connector to use these cables. On the computer end (USB A), standards are compatible, but when connecting a USB 3.0 device to a computer via USB 2.0, the speed will naturally be lower.
