Development of a high-quality tonearm
RB-220 tonearm with patented low-friction bearings designed by Rega with zero play. The bearings are mounted in a newly developed housing that is lighter and stiffer than previous designs. The RB-220 tonearm also introduces automatic anti-skating, making the Planar 2 one of the easiest turntables to set up and use. After balancing the tonearm and adjusting it to the desired tracking force, the turntable is ready to play. Stress-free central bearing Rega has developed and patented a mounting for the central bearing that significantly reduces resonance in the plinth, along with a central bearing that runs even more smoothly and quietly. 24-volt motor The motor is the turntable's only energy source and thus highly important. The Planar 2 is designed with a 24V low-vibration motor that operates with extremely low noise and precise speed stability. Platter The Planar 2 comes equipped with a glass platter. The platter is 10mm thick, dynamically balanced, and produced to tight tolerances in a beautiful Optowhite finish. The rigidity of the platter ensures better speed stability, improved dynamics, and enhanced bass response. The Rega Planar 2 is a turntable designed to extract as much information as possible from the groove, allowing the music to appear as it was originally intended.
