Marshall Amplification was founded in London in 1962 by drummer and store owner Jim Marshall - later nicknamed The Father of Loud. The starting point for the company was in amplifiers, primarily for guitars, and the driving force came from, among other things. Pete Townshend from The Who during some of his visits to Jim's business complained his distress over the amplifiers of the time did not have the sound he was looking for.
From this lament, the characteristic Marshall "crunch" sound was born, and became fundamental to the way rock, and the musicians of this genre evolved.
Marshall is probably the most easily recognizable amplifier brand ever. There is hardly a scene where Marshall has not been represented over time, and many of rock's most iconic albums have been recorded with Marshall equipment.
In recent times, where music devices and lifestyles go hand in hand, Marshall has becode a brand of active Bluetooh speakers and headphones (under license through another manufacturer, Zound Industries). Of course, in these products one also finds hints of what the epitome of Marshall is, both in design and sound.
